THE SHORT ANSWER

Connect two real examples to a specific vacancy, then review the final letter. Start with the source facts, copy a ready-to-use prompt and check the result before using it.

Applies to: Text-based AI assistants. Features and results vary by service and account; these prompts do not run AI on DeskPlain.

A cover letter is useful when it connects your evidence to a particular role. An assistant can help with structure, but an enthusiastic letter built from invented achievements is a poor application. Start with supported examples and details you actually verified about the vacancy.

Prepare the information that matters

Check whether the employer requests or accepts a letter. Choose one or two relevant examples from your work, study or volunteering. Name the role accurately and leave personal recipient details blank if they are unknown; do not ask the model to guess a hiring manager.

Use a service your organization permits for this material. A pasted excerpt is the assistant's source for this workflow; the prompt does not give it access to files, mail or meetings you have not supplied.

Copy this into your AI assistant. Add your notes where marked.

Draft a focused cover letter using the vacancy and my experience below. Connect one or two real examples to the employer's stated requirements instead of repeating the resume as a list.
Use a clear opening, an evidence paragraph, a contribution paragraph and a polite close. Keep it concise and follow any supplied application limit.
Do not invent achievements, employer projects, a recipient or a personal connection. Ask for essential missing facts. Put factual checks and unanswered questions outside the letter, and do not send anything.

A useful output to compare against

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am applying for the Customer Service Assistant role at Northbank Supplies. Your posting’s focus on clear updates and accurate records matches the work I did as an equipment-library volunteer.

I checked reservations, explained borrowing rules and kept the shared reservation sheet up to date. When an item was unavailable, I passed the details to the coordinator so the visitor could receive an informed next step.

I would bring those communication and recordkeeping habits while learning your products and order process. Thank you for considering my application.

Sincerely,
[Your name]

Why these choices matter

The sample uses the employer requirements supplied in the input and one coherent evidence example. It keeps volunteer work labeled as volunteering. The name remains a field for the applicant to replace, rather than a fabricated identity.

Review and improve the first answer

02 / REVIEW THE RESPONSE

Use this after the first answer, in the same conversation. Keep the original source available.

Review the letter for unsupported enthusiasm, employer claims and invented experience. Name what each paragraph contributes. Shorten repeated ideas and retain one concrete evidence example. Do not add facts to improve the tone.

Ask for a specific correction when the response misses the goal. Changing the requested format can improve readability; it cannot make an unsupported fact true. Return to your source when the answer changes a number, date, responsibility or condition.

Check the result before using it

  1. Verify the employer name, role title and actual application instructions.
  2. Check every claimed action against your own experience.
  3. Remove template fields before submission.
  4. Open the exact Word or PDF attachment and inspect all pages.
